Banh Mi Café opened its doors in late 2014 and has since become a household name for authentic Vietnamese cuisine in the Klang Valley. Aside from looking and feeling authentic, Banh Mi Café serves great Vietnamese comfort food at an affordable price.

As the restaurant name suggests, Banh Mi Café specialised in Banh Mi, also known as Vietnamese baguette sandwich. The restaurant had perfected their baguette, which is freshly baked in-house every day.

We started off with the main item this restaurant has to offer—the classic Baguette Grilled Pork (RM8.40). It was served in a small basket which made the whole presentation looked authentically Viet.

Loaded with juicy pork slices, Vietnamese sauce, chilli, and vegetables, the sandwich tasted delicious. The homemade baguette was wonderfully baked. It had a crusty outer skin, while the inner bread remained soft and warm.

The sweet and savoury taste from the Vietnamese sauce was what made it a tasty feast.

Moving on we sampled the internationally beloved Vietnamese comfort food pho, or more commonly known as Vietnamese Beef Noodle. The Viet Beef Noodles Soup (RM12.40) was jam packed with strong beef flavour and tasted super authentic.

For rice lovers, their Viet Pork Chop Rice was one of the best we’ve tried, the pork was well marinated and seasoned, very flavourful in every bite.

Other Vietnamese staples such as Vietnamese Spring Roll (RM5.30) and Steamed Rice Roll (RM9.60) are also available here. At first glance, the rice roll looked ordinary but don’t be deceived by the appearance. The rice roll had a very nice texture to munch on with fillings from crispy spring onion and ham.

While there are plenty of drinks to choose from in the menu, we highly recommend the Iced Coffee Milk (RM5). It was thick, strong and aromatic, making it an incredible satisfying glass of coffee.

The Iced Lime Tea (RM3.70) was another great option if coffee is not your favourite beverage.

Verdict

In a nutshell, Banh Mi Café comes close in being the perfect Vietnamese restaurant in Malaysia. Dishes are kept tasty and as authentic as possible while prices are as affordable as it gets.

Food aside, the dining experience is pretty great as well. Staffs are from Vietnam and are quite knowledgeable in the product. It is clear to see they are well trained and can speak Mandarin and English too.
