This restaurant offers eat-all-you-can steamboat and barbecue grilled buffet @ RM42 nett an adult and RM21 nett for children from 6 to 12 years old, which is quite the bargain considering it’s an all-you-can-eat buffet with seafood. Better yet, there’s no time limit imposed for the buffet so you can take your own sweet time to enjoy your meal.

Located at a somewhat secluded neighbourhood, you will definitely appreciate the ambiance and greenery ASAP has to offer.

The restaurant’s dining area is divided into 3 sections: the ground floor container, upper floor covered space, and outdoor seating at upstairs which is uncovered, perfect for those who’d like to dine under the stars and moon.

You can choose any 1 out of 3 soups – Chicken Soup, Tom Yam Soup and Curry Laksa Soup (recommended).

In terms of ingredients, there are raw marinated meats (Chicken, Beef, Fish, Lamb) with assorted flavours, an assortment of meatballs for your steamboat, seafood (shrimps, cockles, clams, crabs, mussels and squid), quill eggs and chicken eggs, noodles, vegetables and mushrooms, so there’s something for everyone.

Apart from that, there are also plenty of other cooked food such as fried baby crabs, nuggets, fried noodle, French fries, baos, and Sup Kambing.

Their Fried Baby Crabs and Sup Kambing are two of the main attractions here.

Without a doubt, food delivery services are getting more popular than ever. But dahmakan has the edge in the delivery food scene due to its gourmet healthy meal box without sacrificing its taste.

If you have been thinking to try dahmakan, there’s no better time to try it than now. dahmakan has kindly curated a promotion of RM12 off with Fun N’ Taste readers for your delivery.

To claim the RM12 discounts, diners will simply have to book dahmakan through the dahmakan app or website, and enter the promo code below.

betasty1975

Here’s the link for you to download the app: dahmakan.app.link/facebook_funntaste

The best part is, you’re paying for the food ONLY. There are no delivery fees, nor minimum orders.

dahmakan delivers your food for free to the deliver area shown in the map below, which is almost every part of the Klang Valley.

On top of that, there are no minimum orders. It’s a good deal alright.

When it comes to food delivery, dahmakan takes punctuality seriously. So far, dahmakan’s food delivery has been on time.

The app comes with live tracking for deliveries on a map similar to Grab, so that you know when to put on your shirt before collecting your food from the driver.

There are 8 options to choose from each day which differs every single week. dahmakan menu comprises of Asian dishes which range from rice and noodle, as well as Western dishes such as Burrito, Pie, Pasta, and more. All meals are freshly cooked daily.

The Chilli Beef Burritos (RM28.00) is our favourite item to order from dahmakan. Not only did the beef taste fresh and aromatic, the entire meal was filling as well.

Another dish we’ve tried is Beef Tenderloin Rendang Tok (RM23), perfect for those who enjoy local Malay food without the heat. First and foremost, it tasted “very nutritious”. Rendang normally perceived as unhealthy, but the chef from dahmakan managed to serve it with minimal oil and sugar. Most importantly, it was tasty.

We have also tasted Ratatouille Sheperd’s Pie (RM24, vegetarian), Salted Egg Buttered Chicken (RM18), Tortilla chips + nacho cheese (RM14).

Prices may be slightly on the higher end, but considering that each recipe has been crafted by dahmakan’s in-house head chef (background in 5-star hotel industry) and we haven’t had to do any cooking or cleaning, that’s pretty good value.

Waroeng Penyet is one of the longest standing Indonesian restaurants in town. First opened in year 2007, the restaurant has been featured by many media outlets including TV3’s “Jalan Jalan Cari Makan” and The Borneo Post.

Waroeng Penyet runs on a semi fast food concept. First you place your order at the counter and you will be given a number. Once your food is ready, the staff will bring your food to your table.

There are a wide variety of dishes to choose from, ranging from their best seller ayam penyet, prawns (udang), squid (sotong), pomfret (ikan bawal) and more. Waroeng Penyet also serves a long list of refreshing Indonesian drinks.

Waroeng Penyet recently launched the Indomie Ayam Penyet @ RM12.90, which consists of crispy ayam penyet, fried tofu, tempeh and fresh local vegetables. Their ayam penyet is marinated with 9 types of Java spices and then deep fried.

Taste wise, the ayam penyet had a spicy aroma in the chicken skin. It was meaty and tender, surprisingly paired well with the slightly heated Indomie noodles.

If you don’t fancy Indomie, you may opt for the Ayam Penyet – Dada @ RM13.90 which comes with free rice and drinks every Monday to Friday during lunch hours.

While the Indomie noodle was no doubt delicious, we personally prefer this as the white rice perfectly balanced out the flavour of ayam penyet. Hence it’s not as explosive but really enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a side dish you can’t go wrong with the Drumlet Ayam Bakar @ RM12.90. The drumlets are marinated overnight with Indonesian Java sweet sauce. It is then fried and grilled to order, which makes it tender and juicy.

Since Waroeng Penyet practices a fast food concept, the typical sambal and kicap manis are placed at a particular section of the restaurant. And yes, it is self-service so drench as much as you want.

There are many interesting drinks in Waroeng Penyet’s drinks menu. Among the three must-try are Jus Manga (RM7), Soda Gembira (RM4.30), Jus Alpukat (RM10.90), and they were as sweet and delectable as they sound.

For those wanting to try out other items, Waroeng Penyet also offers dishes such as Oxtail Soup (Sup Bentut), Rawon (Javanese Beef Soup) and Gado-Gado.

Although the food choices at The Curve are plenty and tempting, most of them are super expensive. Hence Waroeng Penyet is perfect for those who are looking for delicious and affordable food option.

This article is written in collaboration with Waroeng Penyet.

Korean food lovers in Subang Jaya have many reasons to rejoice this month. There’s a brand new Korean restaurant called Daseo that recently opened in SS15, Subang Jaya. Interestingly, this Korean eatery is also Pork-Free.

Daseo’s menu is kept simple, 2 page affair that feature Korean staple fair and an easy-to-navigate list of a la carte dishes, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. While the signature dishes here are Korean Fried Chicken and Army Stew, the cheese is probably the most attractive part about Daseo as most dishes is accompanied by a good amount of it.

The ordering process for Shimson Stew and Army Stew is simple, first choose your preferred dish with toppings. Next choose your desired Soup Base and Choice of Noodle.

Soup Base
1. Chicken Soup Base
2. Classic Army Stew Soup Base
3. Spicy Army Stew Soup Base

Noodle
1. Ramyeon
2. Handmade Noodle
3. Korean Glass Noodle
4. Udon

The Shimson Stew – Classic Army Stew @ RM48.90 (with Chicken Soup Base) comes with Korean Fried Chicken, Toppokki and melted cheese on the side. Considering the size and amount of ingredients we were served, this dish could easily feed up to 3 people.

The stew was light and mildly spicy but still quite flavourful. However the best part was the fried chicken which was rather sweet and only mildly spicy paired with savoury cheese. The Toppokki was also nice with the right amount of chewiness, one of the better ones we’ve tasted thus far.

Their fried chicken and cheese was so good we had to try the Korean Cheese Fried Chicken @ RM29.90. We were satisfied with portion size and freshness of both the fried chicken and cheese. It should be more than sufficient to feed 2 ladies.

Army Stews without cheese ring and toppings are also available for die-hard soup lovers. The Prawn Army Stew @ RM49.90 includes 4 servings of large prawns, enoki mushrooms, a slice of cheese, 3 soft tofus and various vegetables.

The Clam Army Stew @ RM49.90 comes with the same ingredients except with generous amount of clams instead. Just like the Shimson Stew, you get to choose the soup base and noodle of your likings.

Just like any steamboat restaurant, add-on dishes are available and priced anywhere from RM1 to RM20 depending on what you order.

If you are dining alone and looking for something more simple and wallet-friendly, the Dosirak (Korean Shake Shake Lunch Box) @ RM17.90 would be an option. It comes with a bed of Korean rice topped with Kimchi, Seaweed, Sausages and sunny side egg.

To enjoy this dish at its best, you got to mix it all up by shaking the entire lunch box (with its led on top) super aggressively. That way you get the flavours from all ingredients in one bite.

Based on our experience, we can conclude that the food at Daseo will not disappoint. Food choices are limited but sufficient. More importantly, they are pork free and sensibly priced for a Korean restaurant. If you live around Subang Jaya area and looking for a new Korean restaurant to visit, Daseo would be a good option.

Understanding the love for matcha and everything green tea, Dal.komm COFFEE’s “Love You So Matcha” campaign is offering two premium Matcha Frappes for all Green Tea lovers.

Matcha Frapes:

Mandarin Matcha Frappe @ 17.90

Yuzu Matcha Frappe @ 17.90

Both frappes are green tea-based blended with citrusy fruit flavours. Both matcha drinks were extraordinarily refreshing and interesting because of the citrusy flavours. The citrusy flavour gives a breath of fresh air to the ordinary green tea flavour.

The two drinks also contain no caffeine and it’s excellent if you’re looking for a nutrient-bursting thirst quencher.

Mandarin Matcha Frappe

Made with juices from mandarin orange and matcha, it was a revitalizing sorbet combo. The mandarin orange gave it a nice citrus kick and was energizing without being overly sweet.

Yuzu Matcha Frappe

If you prefer something more overpowering, Yuzu Matcha Frappe is probably for you. The drink was fresh and tangy, and had a strong citron flavour and fragrant. We could taste the yuzu bits as we sip which is packed with vitamin C nutrient.

It’s worth mentioning that the matcha powder used in both beverages is imported from Japan and is also used in other matcha beverage at Dal.komm COFFEE outlets.

The Yuzu Matcha Frappe and Mandarin Matcha Frappe retail at RM17.90 and are available in Dal.komm COFFEE stores starting today until further notice.

If the Frappes alone can’t satisfy your matcha cravings you can pair the beverages with Dal.komm COFFEE’s desserts.

Caramel Honey Shibuya Toast @ RM16.60

The Caramel Honey Shibuya Toast is topped with whipped cream and drizzle with honey. The toast’s exterior was crispy while its interior was super soft with good natural sweet flavours. Best of all, it was packed with a powerful punch of honey aroma.

Matcha Lava Cruffin @ RM18.80

The “croissant-muffin” Matcha Lava Cruffin was quite big and could easily feed up to three ladies. Though the matcha lava wasn’t flavourful enough, the cruffin texture was crispy and paired well with soft cream on top.

Mike’s Burger Grill Celup is one of the most popular gourmet street burger stalls in Petaling Jaya. The owner/chef, Mike was previously a professional chef for over 10 years before setting up his own burger spot. By exploiting his skills, knowledge and years of experience, Mike has successfully develop one of the best Asian-Infused burgers in town.

Kangkung Sambal Belachan, Kungpao, Cream Cheese, Apple Butter BBQ and Black Pepper sauces are available but subject to availability because the sauces have to be made fresh daily. Mike also makes his own beef, chicken and lamb patties which are fresh and consists of 80 – 100 percent pure meat.

Among all the sauces, Mike’s Burger Grill Celup is well-known for Kangkung Sambal Belachan which is a huge hit among folks living in Petaling Jaya.

Here’s his simple and straightforward menu. You can custom make your own burger with any sauces, patties and extra toppings. Since it was our first time here we decided to stick with his best seller.

Kangkung Sambal Belachan Double Beef Burger @ RM21.10

Our customisation resulted in a towering beef burger that is sandwiched with all the goodness. It is prepared with Kangkung, Onions, Grilled Pineapple, Slice Pan-Fried Egg and double beef patty which is dipped in thick Kangkung Sambal Belachan sauce.

With so many ingredients and flavours in one burger, the flavours were as expectedly explosive. The patties, which were already appetizing and delicious on its own became more flavourful with the Kangkung Sambal Belachan – having a spicy kick and oomph too. Frankly speaking the quality and taste was unexpected from a roadside burger stall as it was really delicious

Multiple add-ons such as extra beef/turkey bacon, sautéed mushrooms, cheese slices are available but quite pricey.

Impressed by Mike’s Kangkung Sambal Belachan sauce burger, we ordered Single Chicken Burger with Cream Cheese Sauce (RM13.50). While it is still a good burger with all its cheesy sauce glory, it was not same level as the Kangkung Sambal Belachan. If you have low heat tolerance you can opt for this, we guess.

If for some reason you prefer to have Ramly Burgers, you will be utterly disappointed as Mike’s Burger Grill Celup serves only gourmet burgers.

We don’t know why we feel that we should mention this, but Mike was surprisingly a friendly and super-cool chap. He is an Indonesian-Indian and could speak English fluently. He is more than willing to carry out a conversation with you about anything.

More and more creative/gimmicky dishes are popping up around the Klang Valley at a super-fast pace. For those who love to keep up with the trend, there’s always something new to check out and try. Quiznos is one of the latest restaurants to open in Mid Valley Megamall and their Laksa Sub promotion caught our attention.

Quiznos is a US-based chain restaurant that specialises in submarine sandwich. Currently, they have two outlets in the Klang Valley – Jaya Shopping Centre and Mid Valley Megamall. They recently launched their Laksa Sub promotion which comes with a 4-inch Sandwich (choice of Chicken or Tuna), Waffle Fries and Drinks @ RM15.

Being a big fan of Laksa and Sandwiches, this is something we simply can’t miss. Although the combination of Laksa and Sandwich may sound unsettling, it honestly tasted pretty good (though not mind blowingly good) and if you go with the 8-inch portion should be more than sufficient for 2 ladies.

Chicken Laksa Sub 8-inch

Tuna Laksa Sub 8-inch

The presentation of both sandwiches was pretty neat however among the two options, we enjoyed the chicken better than the tuna. The grilled chicken was tender and was able to absorb the Laksa sauce which complements the savouriness of the entire sandwich.

As for the Tuna sandwich, the mayo was quite strong hence it overpowered the Laksa flavours from the sub.

If you’re not adventurous or missed out this promotion for some reason, fret not as there are other regular sandwiches which might peak your interest.

The menu in Quiznos is kept simple and straightforward. Customers can choose their desired bread, from Rosemary Parmesan, Wheat, and White. Next customers can choose their desired fillings which are preselected from the menu.

For first timers, you may want to try their signature Zesty Steak (4” @RM16), which we felt is the most filling and delicious among all sandwiches we tried in Quiznos.

The beef slices were tender and easy on the mouth, blended wonderfully with the melted mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. On top of that, the rosemary parmesan bread had a satisfying crunch on the outside while fluffy on the inside. Overall, the ingredients complemented well with each other. No wonder this is the best seller at Quiznos.

If beef isn’t your favourite type of meat or can’t have it for whatever reasons, do opt for the Chipotle Chicken & Cheddar. The combination of ingredients worked well, and the chipotle dressing was not overpowering, hence you can still taste a slight cheesiness from the cheddar cheese.

Tuna is a well-balanced classic sandwich comes with comforting savoury flavour. Not as good as the beef one, but still pretty decent.

If you simply want a healthier option by having, you can try the Veggie Deluxe which comes with vegetables, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, and red vinaigrette dressing.

All ingredients at Quiznos are sourced from Halal certified suppliers, so our Muslim friends can enjoy your meal here worry free.

About Quiznos

Quiznos is a US-based chain restaurant that specialises in submarine sandwich. They first opened their door as a small sandwich shop in Colorado 37 years ago in 1981. Today Quiznos have expanded beyond U.S.A, serving in many countries including Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, India, and Malaysia.

The new outlet in Mid Valley is conveniently located beside the KTM station in the mall, making the sandwich kiosk accessible for those who want to grab a sandwich before commuting to work.

Despite being in the market for only 4 years, Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang has established itself as one of the best places to eat around Sungai Ramal, Kajang.

For people living outside of Kajang, Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang is a hidden gem that sells excellent Nasi Dulang in banana leaf. A delicious Nasi Dulang is a rare find in the Klang Valley and although Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang is quite far from the city, we’ll say it’s worth the 30 minutes’ drive.

Their simple two page menu predominately features Nasi Dulang, mainly Chicken, Fish and Seafood. There are approximately 2 dozens Nasi Dulang dish to choose from and prices range from RM7.50 – RM15.

For fried Chicken Lovers, their Set Dulang Ayam @ RM7.50 is not to be missed. The chicken is marinated with 6 different spices and is always fried-to-order. By default, all Nasi Dulang set comes with 4 topping –Air Asam, Sambal Belacan, Sambal Penyet and Masak Lemak.

The Masak Lemak sauce was super thick and packed with amazing flavours. The sauce is homemade and it certainly helped elevate this dish from being a regular Nasi Dulang. You can refill the Masak Lemak for only RM0.30.

Because it was well-marinated and fried to order, the fried chicken was hot and fragrant. The skin was crispy and the flesh was tender and juicy. When combined the chicken and Masak Lemak, the flavours gel well together for an enjoyable taste.

Taking everything into account, we would say RM7.50 is pretty affordable because the taste and portion size was satisfying.

Set Dulang Talapia Merah @ RM9 – RM12 is probably the best value-for-money dish in Kajang. This dish, along with other fish dishes in Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang comes with an entire fish and cost below RM10. It’s impossible to find a dish with such great value around Petaling Jaya or Kuala Lumpur area.

Just like the Chicken, the Talapia Merah is also fried-to-order which means you’ll be getting it hot and crispy. The fish is marinated in a base of turmeric and other spices before frying for 5 minutes upon order.

We found the Talapia Merah to be quite fleshy and that crispy texture combined well with their amazing Masak Lemak. Interestingly, this set also comes with a small bowl of fish curry which tasted quite delicious, but we still prefer their Masak Lemak.

For an affordable and enjoyable seafood meal, you may want to consider the Nasi Dulang Sotong Bakar (RM12 – RM15, depending on size of the squid). Taste wise it was delicious simply because the squids were extremely fresh. The flesh is quite firm and the sambal is nicely prepared with a good consistency.

Although Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang markets itself as a Nasi Dulang spot, their Set Nasi Ganja Ayam @RM7.50 is a MUST TRY for Nasi Kandar lovers. Each Nasi Ganja set comes with half boiled egg, okra, quarter lime, pineapple and cucumber and sambal belacan.

We liked how the restaurant implemented innovative elements such as sambal belacan and limau which indeed help boost the taste. The best part of this dish is definitely the homemade kuah ganja which was thick and flavourful.

The restaurant owner insisted us to try 7 of their most popular and colourful drinks which they are extremely proud of. The drinks here are certainly pleasing to the eye and makes up good Instagram pictures.

From left to right: Teh Tarik Madu (RM4.50), Teh Tarik Cincau (RM3.50), Jagung Cincau(RM3.50), Bandung Cincau (RM3.50), Keladi Cincau (RM3.50), Pandan Cincau (RM3.50).

The one that stood out the most was their Teh Tarik Madu which is Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang’s signature drink. It was sweet from the natural sweetness in the honey and was the perfect way to wash down all the spices.

Although Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang is popular around Sungai Ramal area in Kajang, it’s a real hidden gem for us living in the city. The food here is quite affordable and undoubtedly delicious, the Nasi Ganja alone is enough to make us drive 30km into Sungai Ramal.

Shortly after we reviewed Crispy Chicken Burger by Burger Baek in Bandar Sunway, we were recommended to try out a popular burger stall in Wangsa Maju called Kaw Kaw Burger. We notice there were many positive reviews about Kaw Kaw Burger by various reputable Bloggers and good ratings from customers.

Options are aplenty with mostly unique gourmet burgers. We decided to try their best seller Permaisuri which clocks in at RM14.50 – that’s quite expensive especially compared to Burger Baek’s Cripsy Double Burger which at most would cost you only RM8.

While a single patty burger is already big enough, here a double patty burger would cost you a whopping RM22.50.

The Permaisuri (RM14.50) (queen in Malay) consists of a deep-fried boneless chicken thigh patty, coated with homemade Serai Pedas (spicy lemon grass) sauce, cheese, and turkey smoked roll sandwiches between soft buns.

The burger was kind of sloppy as expected but not entirely messy as just the right amount of sauces were given. Extra sauces are placed on tables if you would like to drench your burgers in sauces. Taste-wise,we liked the crispy chicken patty as it was tender and juicy on the inside while crunchy on the outside. It certainly reminds us of KFC’s Zinger burger but with a local tweak to it with its spicy and tangy seasoning.

However a huge turn off was the massive price tag of RM14.50. While the burger is certainly big and delicious, we personally felt it’s not worth the price tag of RM14.50. Even KFC’s Zinger Burger is much cheaper compared to what we had.

Some staffs were quite friendly to us and service was quite efficient as we were one of the few customers here. By the way, our photographer was coerced into taking this photo as the waiter requested for it and it wouldn’t be nice if we decline.

Think about some of the most popular Nasi Lemak in Kuala Lumpur, chances are you might name Nasi Lemak Wanjo. Located in Kampung Baru, this humble eatery is famous among locals during breakfast and supper as they operate from early morning until late night.

Formerly known as Nasi Lemak Mak Wanjo, the restaurant has been operating for 55 years as they started as a regular roadside stall. Today Nasi Lemak Wanjo is highly regarded as the best Nasi Lemak in Kuala Lumpur.

Much like most Nasi Lemak stalls, you will be served a standard plate of santan rice and essential ingredients ikan bilis , boiled egg and cucumber. Feel free to request for more rice or sambal as you will not be charged extra for it. And lastly, you proceed with the side dishes of your choice.

Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken and Sotong Sambal (RM11)

Two of the better side dish here are the Sambal Sotong and Fried chicken. The fried chicken had a wonderful smell, moist and tender on the inside. The Sambal Sotong on the other hand is cooked to the right tenderness. The sotong sizes were quite big and the sambal here was quite spicy.

Nasi Lemak Wanjo don’t skimp out on the portion of Sotong and the sizes of each sotong was quite big compared to other nasi lemak eateries.

The sambal by Nasi Lemak Wanjo is the sweet type but if you are a spicy sambal lover, don’t be put off by that. It tasted absolutely delicious, mildly spicy and paired well with the aromatic santan rice. And if you are yearning for a spicy kick, their sambal sotong is a must to order. The sotong was fresh and tender and we loved how the sotong soaked up the sambal that was cooked in it.

Price wise, we wouldn’t call it cheap since it is an authentic Nasi Lemak spot at Kampung Baru. But at least it was reasonable enough as we took 2 side dishes and we feel you get what you paid for. Moreover, it taste absolutely delicious hence we don’t mind the price tag,

Edit: We also tried the popular Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa which was mere walking distance away. Truth to be told, taste-wise is wasn’t up to par hence we decided it’s not worth reviewing.

Medini’s Barbecue Restaurant is one of the most popular halal Korean style BBQ restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. Most popular bloggers have dined here and raved about their BBQ dishes as that is what they are most known for.

However, we were invited by Medini’s Barbecue Restaurant to sample their latest Korean Steamboat promotion. This promotion is called “Korean Style Sauna Ramen” and will be available from March 2018 onwards.

This sauna Ramen set is priced at RM19.90 per pax (Minimum 2 pax per order) and it comes with the standard Salad, Chinese Long Cabbage, Cabbage, Sweet Corn, Egg Plant, Mushroom, Pumpkin, Carrot, Pak Choi, Coriander, Ramen Noodles and Glass Noodles.

Squid

Mussels

Chicken

Beef

Lamb

Mushroom

Rice Cake (Side Dish)

Pajeon (Side Dish)

Glass Noodle (Side Dish)

For extra add on dishes, items and its prices are listed below:

Seafood – RM10
Beef – RM10
Lamb – RM10
Chicken – RM10
Rice Cake – RM5
Rice – RM5
Tofu – RM5
Egg – RM2
Slice Cheese – RM2

A standard set comes with a complimentary side dish of Korean Glass Noodles, Kimchi and Korean Rice Cake. It is also worth mentioning that the dipping sauces used are sambal and kicap manis.

Instead of using gas, the steamboat at Medini’s Barbecue Restaurant is cooked on a wok over some charcoal. And yes, cooking over charcoal can make a huge difference in terms of bringing out that strong aroma from the dish.

The soup was light and tasty, it added a good amount of flavours to the toppings in the steamboat wok.

The Beef, Lamb and Chicken we had were lacking in marination so that the meat would be able to absorb flavours from the soup. Same goes to the seafood, tofu and vegetables, all tasted as “real” as possible.

If you have a heavy palate we highly recommend dipping on the sambal and kicap manis sauces. If you cook them right, everything should taste tender and delicious. The vegetables and meat we had were quite fresh as well.

Burger-MBira is one of the most popular and beloved Ramly Burger stalls in the Klang Valley. Their unique and extensive Ramly Burger menu is what made them popular among folks in Damansara. You can also customise your own burger with any toppings they offer.

Since it was our first time we decided to order one of their prefixed best sellers – Extra Big & Taste (RM10).

Extra Big & Taste is topped with beef/chicken patty, onions, mayo, cheese, slice ham, lettuce, cucumber, and bunch of sauces. Clearly Burger-MBira do not skimp out on the ingredients which resulted in one thick and juicy burger.

As expected, the flavours were super rich and strong with a slight hint of spiciness from their secret homemade sauce. While we usually hate the addition of potatoes (or any sorts of carbohydrates) in the patty, the hash brown surprisingly blends well with the burger.

What we loved the most about this burger is their homemade patties. The fried chicken patty we had was made out of chicken breast and it was quite tender and juicy.

The Extra Big & Taste burger is a perfect example of how sometimes dumping in a plethora of explosive ingredients simply works!

Despite the long line of customers, service was surprisingly fast and efficient. Our burger arrived in less than 10 minutes.

Verdict

Personally we found Burger-MBira to be incredibly satisfying. Their homemade patties and sauces and their unique twist to the traditional Ramly Burger made them stand out from the rest. It’s safe to say that Burger-MBira is one of the best supper spots in Damansara Uptown.

Prices of food is consistently increasing every year, hence people always on the hunt for inexpensive yet tasty eateries. Living in the Klang Valley where a standard lunch cost at least RM7 per pax, it’s a real gem to find out about Anuar Kari Kepala Ikan.

This eatery is situated at Pusat Penjaja Taman Lucky and sells a plate of Nasi Ayam Goreng at only RM3. A plate of Nasi Ayam Goreng comprises a piece of fried chicken, fish curry sauce, okra, and bean sprouts.

Other food options are also sold at an affordable price. For example:

Rice + Fried Chicken + Vegetable = RM3
Rice + Fried Fish + Vegetable = RM3
Rice + Fried Chicken + Fried Fish + Vegetable = RM6
Rice + Sotong Goreng + Vegetable + Chicken / Fried Fish = RM10

The Sotong Goreng is highly recommended, which is a tender, fresh and tasty dish to consume as it adds extra flavours to the rice. You can opt for only white rice and Sotong Goreng as it cost RM7.

As you can tell from the picture, the size of the Sotong Goreng is pretty big and satisfying especially for the price of RM7. On top of that, as the restaurant’s name suggest, Anuar Kari Kepala Ikan is renowned for their fish curry which comes with spicy gravy and fresh fish. The Fish Head Curry here is a MUST TRY!

A week ago we were extended an invitation to the official restaurant launch of Galito’s in Malaysia. We decided to use this opportunity to sample the eatery’s “Bold African Flavours” and to see whether it was up to par.

For those who are unfamiliar, Galito’s is a grilled chicken chain restaurant which originated in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga in South Africa. The restaurant has been operating since 1996 and only came to Malaysia earlier this year.

Galito’s signature offering is pretty similar to what you’d find at Nando’s. The restaurant also features its own variant of peri-peri sauce ranging from Lemon & Herbs, Garlic, Mild, Hot, and Premium Reserve Extra Hot.

We loved the Lemon & Herbs sauce the most as it features interesting and unique flavours which we’ve never tasted before. If you have low heat tolerance you can safely opt for the Mild sauce as it was not spicy at all, yet just as flavourful as the other sauces.

We started off with the Liver and Roll (RM9.90) which is essentially chicken liver cooked on a curry like sauce and served with buns and butter. We thought this is a hit or miss kind of dish, the liver was marinated enough and the flavours were mild.

Galibowl (RM15.90) was made with opporto rice, chicken cubes and spinach, topped with Galito’s signature Sishebo sauce. While the portion size was decent, we are also glad that the restaurant did not skimp out on the chicken pieces.

Being huge fans of burgers, it’s almost a MUST we try the Galito’s Burger (RM12.90). We do appreciate that only boneless chicken breast was used for the patty as it is a healthy alternative. However the buns had a weird sweet taste to it and chicken patty was extremely dry.

The Sweet Potato Chips (RM4.90) however was super delicious and addictive. When dipped inside Galito’s Peri Peri Sauce the taste of spiciness and sweetness simply explodes. We must say this is certainly better than Nando’s chips.

Our main course was Galito’s signature ¼ Flame-Grilled Chicken (RM11.50). We were told that the each chicken is marinated for 24 hours with African herbs and spices before grilling. The chicken was flavourful and had a light herb aroma. Although it’s not as delicious as Nando’s, for the price you’re paying it’s quite worth it.

The 2 sides we had were Spinach (RM5) and Chilli Beans (RM5). Both were an unconventional but falls flat in terms of taste.

Verdict

To keep things simple and short, Galito’s is the cheaper version of Nando’s. A ¼ Flame- Grill Chicken cost RM11.50 at Galito’s while the same dish cost RM17.90 at Nando’s. But remember, you get what you pay for. So don’t expect it to taste a good as Nando’s.

Eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper, Nasi Kandar is one of the most beloved dishes all around Malaysia. What makes a good nasi kandar is the fiery curries, soft and fluffy rice and of course poultries.

Original Penang Kayu is one of the most popular hangout spots around SS2. People flock over here for lunch, dinner and supper for the irresistible Nasi Kandar. Offering a wide variety of choices, Original Penang Kayu is one of the widely recommended Nasi Kandar places.  The reason it’s last on this list is due to the poor service quality and high prices.

5. Nasi Kandar Kudu Bin Abdul @ Chow Kit, KL

We wished Nasi Kandar Line Clear was higher on this list, sadly it’s not. While it doesn’t live up to its hype with its less than robust curries, this is still a pretty good place to get your Nasi Kandar fix. If anything, taste is pretty decent and prices are pretty affordable especially for Kuala Lumpur’s standards. Where else you going to get a plate of Nasi Kandar for RM5.30 in 2017?!

People from Puchong come here to get their Penang Nasi Kandar fix and while it’s fairly pricey, taste-wise it’s pretty darn good. If you’re thinking to come here, make sure you arrive by 11:00AM as the queue gets really long by 12.00PM.
