]]>The post Wizards At Tribeca @ Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur appeared first on Fun N' Taste.
]]>If you’re looking for a new restaurant to dine in Kuala Lumpur, head over to Wizards At Tribeca.
The restaurant is only a year old, but they are already popular in the Internet space. Not only they have over 200 Google reviews and strong Instagram presence, the restaurant is manned by the experienced team who founded the famed Yellow Brick Road and The Red Beanbag.
The décor has a minimalist modern décor and ceiling-to-floor open windows, which allows warm lightings for better photo.
Wizards serve a seasonal menu of brunch, lunch and coffee in the daytime. We were in Wizards in mid-December to try out some of their all-day dining options.
Most of the dishes we had were recommended by the co-owner, Shaun so it’s safe to say that these are their signature items.
We enjoyed most of it, especially the Unagi Benedict. It’s essentially Egg Benedict, topped with avocado, poached eggs, barbecue Unagi and Sansho pepper.
For those looking for something unique and unconventional, this is the dish for you. We liked the Japanese twist of this brunch dish. Surprisingly Unagi and egg pairs very well together. On top of that, the portion was just nice. Overall, we found this combination rich and deeply satisfying.
We have also tried out the Taro Mish Mash and Cheesy Chilli Scramble Eggs, both good in their own right.
Taro Mish Mash comes with sourdough bread, topped with diced avocado pesto, tomato salsa, feta cheese and not to forget some pouched egg.
Sounds like a perfect brunch dish, and indeed it was. The runny egg yolk paired well with the velvety taro mash, we enjoyed it as it gives a sweet plus savoury flavour in one spoonful.
Cheesy Chilli Scramble Eggs didn’t impress us that much compared to the two dishes above. We felt the flavours of cheese and chili can be stronger, nonetheless, it’s a decent dish for those who like something heavy for breakfast.
Polenta Extravaganza took us by surprise. It’s actually a Polenta based pizza, topped with creamy mushroom dexelles, olives and truffles. The mixture of different mushrooms is savoury and delicious — and pairs well with the creamy herbed polenta
For dessert, we tried something inspired by Chinese cuisine, the Golden Molten Lava. The dish was created because of the co-founder’s obsession towards “Liu Sha Bao”, which translate to salted egg custard bun.
If chocolate is not your favourite, do try their Mango Mille Feuille. The sweetness is just right for our liking too so there’s no guilt involved in this sweet treat.
All in all, it was a pleasant experience and we were quite satisfied with the food. Special thanks to Shaun from Wizards At Tribeca for hosting us.
Do note that Wizards At Tribecca is often fully booked, hence to avoid disappointment we highly suggest you to make a reservation beforehand.

]]>The post Wantan Mee @ Meng Kee Char Siew, Glenmarie Shah Alam appeared first on Fun N' Taste.
]]>Meng Kee Char Siew is one of the most frequented coffee shops in Glenmarie, Shah Alam because of its premium Char Siew. The place is spacious and service is fast. Despite the crowd, it didn’t take long for our food to arrive.
There are a lot of people from different towns purposely come here just for their premium Char Siew.
Priced at RM5.50, a standard plate of Wantan Mee is topped with the usual Choy Sum and both fried and soupy wontons. Additional Char Siew is chargeable at RM2.50 per portion.
As you can see by the picture, the addition of extra Char Siew is more than worth the price.
While the Wantan Mee was quite delicious, the star of the dish is no doubt the Char Siew. The Char Siew here wasn’t overly sweet and was caramelized well. The Char Siew was so tender it almost melts in your mouth. It was superb and complements the noodles wonderfully.
We certainly enjoyed this more than Wai Kei Wantan Mee In Puchong.
Although the Wantan Mee at Meng Kee Char Siew looks simple, it certainly makes up for one enjoyable breakfast.
Much like the food offerings, drinks are also limited here. They do not serve the usual Teh Panas or Teh Ice, instead they offer Barley Ice and White Coffee (the 3-in-1 kind).
If you are not a fan of Wantan Mee you may opt for their Chicken Rice / Char Siew Rice which is said to be equally good.

]]>The post Curry Mee & Chicken Rice @ Restaurant Kum Chuan SS13, Subang Jaya appeared first on Fun N' Taste.
]]>Kedai Kopi Dan Makanan Kum Chuan a.k.a Restaurant Kum Chuan churns out inarguable one of the best Curry Mee in Subang Jaya.
A bowl of Curry Mee (RM5.80) comes with a variety of toppings including char siew, cockles, tofu puffs, long beans and beans sprout. You get four options (yellow mee, vermicelli, kuay teow, and wan tan noodles) for your Curry Mee. We opt for yellow mee + vermicelli.
The curry broth is super creamy and thick, bringing rich flavours to the dish. We loved how the dish had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy as most Curry Mee are either too fiery or salty.
As for the ingredients, the cockles were big and fresh. However the char siew was a little letdown as it wasn’t as flavourful as expected. Probably overshadowed by the broth.
Alex Chicken Rice stall is also popular at Restaurant Kum Chuan hence we ordered a standard plate of Chicken Rice (RM5.50) to see how it fairs.
The rice were fragrant, dare we say it can be eaten on its own. Taste wise, the roasted chicken was slightly bony, but the meat was tender and flavourful. The portion size of the chicken was small for the rice given thus it was quite dissatisfying in that aspect.
Expect to wait in queues or share tables with random uncle and aunty if you’re coming here during peak hours. The coffee shop is small and cramped and customers kept pouring in out of nowhere. Also, the dish arrival time might be even longer than waiting to get a seat. We suggest coming as early as possible if you’re not patience and to avoid uncomfortable experience.

]]>Yesterday while we were dining at Peter’s Chee Cheong Fun truck, a random customer recommended us to try a neighboring chee cheong fun stall which is 2 doors away. Hence we decided to try this nameless Chee Cheong Fun stall for breakfast at SS14 Subang Jaya.
We were told that the owner Mr Chew has been operating this Chee Cheong Fun stall for 20 years in SS14 morning market and things are usually sold out by 9.00AM. It’s also worth mentioning, the chilli paste here are freshly homemade.
First thing we notice from this nameless Chee Cheong Fun stall is the owner, an friendly aunty who takes hygiene seriously – she was spotted wearing a plastic glove when handling food.
Topped with Hakka brown sauce, a squirt of chilli, a dash of sesame oil, a generous spoonful of prawn paste drizzled on the dish. Lastly, the Chee Cheong Fun is topped sprinkled with sesame seeds for that fragrant and nutty flavour.
The rice rolls was soft by itself, and the amount of Hakka brown sauce poured was just nice to coat the dish evenly. No doubt the yum factor of this dish is the home made chilli paste, giving it the spicy twist. If you have low heat tolerance just request for less but don’t omit it completely.
All in all, this chee cheong fun stalls offers comfort and affordability on a plate. If you happen to be around Subang area and looking for a cheap and tasty breakfast spot you should definitely consider dropping by the SS14 market for this hearty chee cheong fun.
P/S: No price tag was place as this dish was paid by a nice uncle who sat with us for breakfast.
Operating Hours: 6AM – 10AM, Daily
Address: Jalan SS14/2a, SS 14, 47500, Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

]]>Peter’s Chee Cheong Fun Truck is nestled at SS14 and is one of the longest standing authentic street-style eatery in Subang Jaya. The owner of the stall have been operating for 15 years in the morning market of SS14 and has gain a good following among folks in Subang area.
A standard plate of chee cheong fun topped a variety of filling can indeed be a satisfying breakfast.
As shown on the pictures above, for RM6 we got 2 rice rolls, 3 meat balls and 1 large piece of fuchok. We were there a little late hence the truck ran out of tau pok, we were told that things tend to finish by 9.30AM.
Taste-wise, the Hakka brown sauce wasn’t really fragrant but it did provide strong flavours to the dish and gave a good balance of sweet and savoury. The chilli sauce was pretty good too as it gave a nice spicy kick to the dish and the fillings gave a good texture.
Honestly there’s nothing outstanding about this stall and the hygiene is a little questionable. But still, if you’re looking for a decent Chee Cheong Fun place with affordable price we urge you to give Peter’s Chee Cheong Fun Truck at SS14 a shot.
