6 Cafes & Restaurants Every Foodie Has To Check Out This April 2019
Food has always been our first true love and still is. Nothing beats a nice cuppa alongside a good book when you’re in your favourite minimalistic vibe out space. However if you have ran out of cafés to visit in town to chill with your hangout buddy or just want to try something new – we’d reckon you to check out this month’s list to celebrate the new food joints that recently popped up.
1. Super Boring Club
This super cool eatery has definitely “failed” to live up to it’s name as it has got to be one of the most hip joints in town. Located at Jalan Mesui, this place is packed especially during weekends. Enjoy an Asian twist by trying out their Yummy Spicy Baby Octopus that comprises of baby octopus, watermelon, mushrooms and pea sprout drizzled with spicy lime sauce and topped with edible flowers. That does sound like a lot to take in, but although how freaky the combination may sound like – don’t stop til you have tried it.
Hours: 12pm – 10pm (Sundays), 12pm – 2.30pm, 6pm – 11pm (Tuesdays-Fridays), 12pm – 11pm (Saturdays)
Address: 15, Jalan Mesui, Bukit Bintang, 50200 Kuala Lumpur
2. Super Ramen by Ru Di Fook
With no doubt, a bowl of ramen is an ideal comfort food for most of us. Featuring a cocktail bar, absorb in the aesthetics as you enjoy their tantalising King of Pork Chop Ramen and the Boston Sea Kaiju Ramen (lobster!). If you’re one to get high from ramen, then you should opt out by trying the Japanese Asari Clam Ramen that is infused in a potent whisky ginger broth. Perfect for those who wants to start the day early.
Hours: 2pm – 3pm, 6pm – 12am, closed on Wednesdays
Address: 65 G, Jalan Radin Bagus, Sri Petaling, 57000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
3. The Lolla Co
Grab a cuppa at this new joint as you’re on the way to work. Opened as early as 7.30am, enjoy an array of their delicious pastry delights to skip the morning blues. Give their Cajun Roasted Chicken a try as it is paired with cranberry jam and spicy mustard sauce that is called Mariah Berry. Being a coffee house, don’t forget to get yourself a Flat White ’cause this coffee house uses the fresh fine beans of Common Man Coffee Roasters and Pain Au Raisin
Hours: 7.30am – 5.30pm, daily
Address: G. 01, The Ampwalk, 218, Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur
4. The Grumpy Waiter
Another addition to the food scene in Sri Hartamas, this new eatery is down to whip up some tasty Northern Style Nyonya cuisines for its patrons. Offering a more tangy and spicy flavour profile, try out their signature Thai Laksa that comes in some flavourful gravy with a generous serving of fish chunks, topped with crunchy bean sprouts, cucumber, fresh basil and torch ginger.

5. The Grill – Elements
Barbecuing has always been an art that requires a lot of attention. Located at TREC KL, you can enjoy lots of grilled meat at this new casual dining hotspot in town. Producing only the highest quality of food, don’t forget to try out their signature barbecued meat and grilled fish that is cooked using a custom-made grill to get the perfect sear on top of that meat. Among the many types of Thai-Western dishes offered here, the Black Angus Steak (marinated in Thai sauces), Krapao Pork Burger and Fried Chicken Som Tam Burger are 3 of the must-try! Western dishes aside, there’s quite a number of authentic Thai dishes such as Chiang Mai Fried Rice, Pork Trotter Rice, Thai Pork Noodle Soup and more.
